As our StarGrowth project approaches its conclusion, our Cypriot partner APINTECH has marked an important milestone by celebrating the achievements of 15 beneficiaries (tourism SMEs) who successfully implemented cutting-edge technological and sustainable solutions in the tourism sector.
Pioneering Technology for Tourism
These initiatives reflect the project’s key mission: to empower SMEs and local communities by integrating innovation, digital tools, and sustainability into rural tourism. The Cypriot participants have demonstrated remarkable creativity and ambition, launching solutions that are already transforming the visitor experience:
- 7 projects in real-time hotel premise monitoring
(Anesis, Wind, Lychnos, Anonymous, Melpo Antia, Golden Coast, Malmo) - 6 projects delivering advanced ICT applications
(Sunhall, Julipapas Gardens, New Helvetia, Yonik Management Village, Thyises, Theo Sunset) - 2 projects focusing on energy efficiency and environmental audits
(St. Raphael, Aphrodite Camping)
Local Innovation with European Impact
What makes these achievements even more inspiring is the high percentage of locally generated innovation. It is estimated that 70–80% of the technological solutions were developed in Cyprus itself, proving the strength and creativity of the island’s tourism ecosystem.
This outcome not only highlights the capacity of SMEs to innovate, but also reinforces the value of European cooperation in unlocking potential and sharing knowledge across borders.
Looking Ahead: Digital Menus for the Future
Building on this momentum, and in response to industry needs voiced during project events, our partner APINTECH will host an online presentation in late November 2025. The event will showcase a new generation of digital menus designed to provide detailed dietary information to visitors and clients — another step towards more sustainable, inclusive, and guest-friendly tourism services.
Participation will be open and free of charge, inviting stakeholders from across Europe to explore how digital transformation can serve both businesses and communities.
