Boosting Eco-Tourism: Train-the-Trainer Programme
The training program designed for Modules A and B focuses on Environmental Sustainability of Rural Tourism and Ecotourism and Sustainability in Economic, Social, and Cultural Contexts. It has been developed with a train-the-trainer model in mind. This model ensures that the content is not only understood and applied by the trainers but also disseminated effectively to a broader audience, specifically the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism sector. By adopting this methodology, the objective is to build a long-term and sustainable learning culture, where key personnel trained in these topics will pass on their knowledge to others within their organizations, creating a ripple effect of knowledge dissemination.
The train-the-trainer approach is particularly suitable for the tourism sector, which often consists of small-scale operations, dispersed across different regions (eg. rural and remote). can greatly benefit from specialized training to ensure they are aware of and implementing the latest sustainable practices in their operations. The goal is not merely to provide information but to ensure long-term behaviour change, embedding sustainability at the core of business strategies.
